This here is something that Yong Woei came up with, for all of us :
This is actually a stand to rest our a2 folio on, so that it is convenient for us to flip the folio during presentation. It's not anything that complicated, but it proves that Yong Woei is a really responsible class rep!
Somehow Yong Woei did this alone, coming out with the whole idea and everything. Bryan helped out a little too. xD
"i think its better to let everyone noe dat some one is dere to do all these shit jobs. dun let everyone take it for granted"
So yep, THANK YOU YONG WOEI!
AND HAPPY BIRTHDAY EUNICE!
main content posted on behalf of Bryan.

STUDIO YOU THINGGY!!!! READ!!!!
We have contacted the lady from You Design and she will be in on Wed morning 9 am to look at your work. Dennis & myself will play a side role as she looks at your work and makes suggestions.
We will be looking through your design management file which, though not complete , will be able to show the start of a compilation of information and most importantly the consultation sheets. This needs to be shown me on Wednesday at the same time. Pls bring along your files for inspection.
Attd pls find for your reading pleasure an article I wrote about the bath tub. At one time I had enjoyed writing as a interest but other stuff overtook it and my articles soon stopped. I hope the writing and images generated can serve to allow a bit of literary diversion and enjoyment over the weekend for you all. All comments welcome. Writing is not an area I am extremely proficient at but like all people who have hobbies, the greatest joy is to be able to share one’s hobbies.
In olden day China, a learnt person is one who is proficient in the Wen & the Wu, or academic and martial arts. Elaborated, the two translate further into Ching Chi Shu Hwa. Or the (zither) musical instrument, chess, book(academic) and drawing (art). Confucius advocates that men(women) should learn these so as to serve the country well and contribute as a useful person to society. It is therefore in the interest of all the general population to pursue.
kh
MATTERS IN HAND :D
ok random but hes a tuition teacher you see. so anyways,
lecturers, teachers, the sama sama luhs..
we should show appreciation to pid lecturers.

i was suggesting order pizzas, the same time, celebrate for eunice. how about that?
or a mini buffet? suggestions?
so i feel, although lecturers come down hard on us, they do that for a reason.
some things to clear the air.
i know everyone reads this blog. kh n students.. (:
it doesnt matter who reads or what comments i would get from this, but i feel i should let everyone know. even if its a scolding from anyone even lecturers.
1)yes, process is important, but in the working world, your boss wouldnt recognise your hardwork. its the final results he wants.
what kh has done, is nothing much. he just did what clients would have done.
2) and yes again, banging the table was wrong, maybe he shouldnt have done that.it had hurt alot of peoples feelings. if it were my torch, i would have been angry.
but he had a point there. the stands were unable to withstand the shakes, if it were to be done and shown to minister, it would have been an unglam scene:X
so anyways,
and to clear more air,
i feel that the stands were said to have carried no marks at all, and since it was so last minute, we anyhow did one.
frankly speaking, i did it the evening before. it was a rush. and i had NO ideas for the stand. hence, an ugly looking and chunky one at that. it was mostly WASTE WOOD FROM THE RECYCLE BIN.so thats one.
and two, if there was said to have carried no marks, why was there a 5 marks thing?
i felt this should have been cleared up. 5 marks was alot. if i got 68, the 5 marks could have given me probably an extra 3 marks? 71 /100 instead.
so anyways again,
its good to forgive and forget.
put this as the past, clear all misunderstandings.
let this be a learning lesson, a thinking process for everyone of us.
kh hasnt done any wrong, and we didnt either.
WE JUST DIDNT COMMUNICATE WELL.
any disagreements with what i have said, let me know, i will change this post accordingly.
i dont wana hurt anyones feelings.
no harm meant ok! ((((:
soso tues eunice celebration and teachers day ok?!
we should show appreciation for the hardwork no matter what (:
on the brighter note,
OUR NUFFNAG EARNINGS!!! (:
not much yet, but atleast its earning!!!!
my blog only 40 cents!!!
SADDED!!!!HAAHAHAHA
anw
seeyou all soon!!!!
ps. i seriously am not shooting anyone in this post, i felt that this quarrel or whatever you may term it is getting abit, off. so i decided to post this. do comment if you feel not right too. this way changes can be made, and it would be a better world for everyone (:
I LOVE PID. I DO (:
NEED PEEEEEEOPLE
Hi Terrence,
I have 2 test machines with Alias installed and would like to invite you and your classmates for a test drive.
Can you organize a group of 6 (preferably CAID-freak) including yourself to do the test drive?
I need 3 from Year 2 and 3 from year 3.
Each of you will need to prepare the following:
1) Alias wired file of any product you have done
2) Stop watch
3) Paper and pen
Let me know a good time, preferably tomorrow or early next week. The tasks will take you less than 1 hour. Your feedback will be valuable.

and the below is from Teo
"If you people all have complex Alias Models that you feel requires faster results of renderings in the highest definitions as well as multi tasking programs, please let me know ASAP. I need 3 from Year 2 and 3 from year 3.
Contact me either via email: terrordrone0@hotmail.com or hp: 91338249 latest by next week. The tasks will take you less than 1 hour. Thank you."

those who went to work today, you didnt see how the rest helped you all for the stand.
it was such a heart warming sight.
though i didnt help out much, i was glad.
sijin, yeongwei, yvette , zhiming, adeline, syarul, alvin, bryan, samuel.
they spent half the day in the workshop cutting mdf, bending the rod, and last man standing, yufeng.
all left, left yufeng n me in workshop , the rest were yr 3s..
i asked if he needed help, he said no. so i went to do my torch.
i looked up. i saw him there. doing every single one of the stand.
(to jerlynn: not i was peeping at him, but he was sitting in front of me 3 tables away. no harm meant! HAHA)
but that sight was something you wouldnt see yufeng doing.
i wanted to snap a pic, but felt it was inappropriate in some ways, so i didnt .
anyways, to those working, take care, drink lotsa water! we will visit you all soon!
and those in school, we will make do with what we have, though it has been really quiet today! :D
take care all! SMILES
today was a sight not many could have seen, but to me, it doesnt matter.
you know we know, thats all it matters.
spread the love people.
and i thought this was cool! BOTH SO HARDWORKING!

Sometimes in our lives we all have pain
We all have sorrow
But if we are wise
We know that there's always tomorrow
Lean on me, when you're not strong
And I'll be your friend
I'll help you carry on
For it won't be long
'Til I'm gonna need
Somebody to lean on
If there is a load you have to bear
That you can't carry
I'm right up the road
I'll share your load
If you just call me
So just call on me brother, when you need a hand
We all need somebody to lean on
I just might have a problem that you'd understand
We all need somebody to lean on
Lean on me when you're not strong
And I'll be your friend
I'll help you carry on
For it won't be long
Till I'm gonna need
Somebody to lean on
Lean on me...

However there is only 1 main government/official level Wushu school in every province, run and administered by government officials that are recognized. This is to make sure that lower level people who pretend to teach Wushu does not teach lousy martial arts and then mislead students by telling them how easy it is to learn martial arts and then collecting hefty fees every month. The student will know how their standard is when they get beaten up in a street encounter with another person.
In China there are 34 province-level administrative units in China, including 4 municipalities, 22 Provinces, 5 autonomous regions & 2 special districts. The most popular national school in China is the Beijing Wushu School. That’s where Jet Li comes from. He is also a number of times all China Wushu champion.
Now are we all the level of the Beijing team or one of the many provinces? What is your aim in the course? Are you happy that you are just a basic member of a unknown provincial team or that of the elite Beijing Team. You tell me.
When you signed up for PID, you sign on for a career course. It is not a basic O Level or or level that whole of Singapore takes. PID is a specific type of course that needs specific skills you need to be equipped with so that you can at least begin to be a able to do a job when you finish from NS. Don’t kid yourself, no one will give you a designer job straight away. You will be the new guy in the company and start from scratch. No one will allow them selves to let you work on a client’s project from the start. Some of you say you have put in a lot of effort to make the model but it’s not what you wanted in the end. I have this to ask – did anyone touch up their model lamp ? Did anyone bothered to go to the workshop when free to hone your skills so that your next model is going to be better?
Our job is to make sure less people fail the exams without compromising on established standards. Make no mistake. The Beijing Wushu School will never allow itself to be lowered to a provincial level school for anyone. To do so will be self defeating and irresponsible. If it means we have to be harsh, then it has to be. It is difficult to be nice and at the same time allowing students to know the exacting standards expected of designers out in the real world. Besides, 5 staff members including Mdm Tia was there to assess you. If you are not totally satisfied with the outcome, you must ask yourself how 5 qualified designers and also architect decided that your proposal is where it is at. Is the opinion of 5 experienced people more accurate or one student ?
If your wonton mee tastes terrible, no one will buy from you. You will lose money and close shop. No one will know that your car broke down and you had to cycle to Johore Baru to get your new batch of noodles and that along the way the rain fell on the noodles and made it soggy. What consumers want are the final goods. What matters is that you learn from the mistakes and shortcomings and improve yourself. Plan your routine, work around it or make new arrangements. My classmate spent 6 years in the course and could not graduate but he finally became a technician in the workshop. Is he going to grumble that he has been super hard working and did not graduate ? He did not , as he realized that he just did not have the aesthetic feel for the job and became a technician instead.
I had to work part time as a dish washer in a Nonya restaurant in Melbourne when I was a student. I had to do the daily laundry, ironing clothes and cooking and marketing. I had a school workshop that never opens after 5 pm because Australians do no cater to such request in my time. I had to put my big projects at night in a abandoned house next to my campus because I did not have a proper place to store big items. I did not have parents who can drive me to school if I had projects to bring and could only put it under my arm as I cycled to school on cold winter’s mornings. I cannot afford a taxi because those nice uncles charge a bomb for every mile. I even had to cut my hair in my toilet every month because I cannot afford the expensive barbers there. I don’t think there is many of you who have to go through much of these as a student doing a diploma course.
On top of that I had to do a degree in PID. Maybe I should just go emo and blame everyone else or throw up my hands in despair and give up? Better still, blame the top students in the class for spoiling the market. But I chose to do the course and by hook or by crook I have to complete it.
In the first year I was middle of the class. Not bad for a foreign student not used to the education system and strong Australian accent.
In my second year I was in the first few at the top.
In my final year I obtained a degree with distinction. You can see the picture below where I was awarded the Holden General Motors Award Prize along with my classmate BJ and we were given a tour of the extensive factories and lunched with the directors there. I was the first Asian to win this prize and as far as I know, no overseas student has won it since. Holden is the national Australian car manufacturer. Their factories run for miles and in 2007 they have 6500 employees. Check http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holden

That’s the Chief Designer of Holden Philip Zmood on left and Dean of the Uni Faculty at right.
When I applied to study in Australia, 4000 people applied at the same time. Only 200 were given places in Australian Universities. I was lucky they liked my portfolio I sent. Being one of the 200 means that I don’t have to pay school fees. Free , courtesy of the Australian government. Nowadays many people study in Australia. They have to pay heavy fees like $14 000 for a basic course right? Do you know why ?
Life is full of tough expectations. The earlier you are exposed to it and know the harshness of some aspects of life the better. The SIP will be a turning point if you do not get engaged by the company because you have a weak portfolio. This will happen next year. You really do not want to wait till then to realize that. You really have to start doing up a good portfolio. Sweating more in training means bleeding less in battle. The enemy will give no quarters and you cannot say that well I did my best and hope for the best. You need to have a frame of reference, a comparative study. You need to match yourselves to a marker and work at that. Use Johnathan from the recent graduated batch to measure yourself against.
Ke Li’s model fell to piece as we talked that day. We will have to look at it strictly and adjust the marks. If we don’t do that, we may get more double sided taped models in future. Alvin has been given a talking to and will work on his model and promises he will be punctual at the next crits. We need to do the bad guy job if the whole class is going to be alingned and move in the right direction. If it makes me popular on the bogs, can’t help it. But please can you also continue to work at your projects and make yourself better. Facta Non Verba.
I am still going to help San Roye repair his watch and promise not to mess it up.

Cleaning of workshop
this is from the year 3 as we know that they are having their p3
so those have material on the table pls pack it up to make so space for them.
It will help them alot.
Also good to keep the material so that you guys can use the material in the future.
THANKS
2 This is the most democratic way of grading and is what we always practice.
3 It also means that results would not be biased or lop sided.
4 MOST IMPORTANTLY it also means that your grade is what all the staff feels is appropriate. If you have obtained a less than desired grade, you must think what is left out.
5 Perhaps you have not been well prepared or the work is overshadowed by the other student’s work once everyone shows their stuff.
6 The stand is important to show off your work to the best. I am pre empting that if a VIP does come to see your torch, there may be also photographers
7 I do not know for sure and can only guess but I hope you will all be prepared so that the photographer can do their job and capture the torches for what they are..
8 San Roye’s stand is recommended for Torches that cannot be drilled. Please consult if you have questions. Shyness is not something PID students are known for.
9 Cheris’s stand now is an example of how a torch can be made to stand even in an earthquake. Look at it. Learn
10 Leave the helpless stance out of your daily routine. You will know the value of resourcefulness and resilience when you start work.
11 You will encounter even more stressful situations when you grow older. Believe me. What you encounter now is just chicken feed.
The following pls make time to see me on Tuesday morning at 10 am :
Chloe, Jerlynn, Hui Yee, Bryan, Si Jin, Royston
The lady from You Studio is supposed to come in soon, I want to know we are ready to show her work. On Wednesday all will bring your A2 drawings in to show Dennis & myself what is your preferred design for her. She needs 2 designs and you have done some research on what is out there, now is the time to show her what your proposal is. You have used up 4 weeks to work on this concurrently with the torch and P Com D. there needs to be work done for this as well.
REMEMBER.
If you had trouble finishing the Torch then think carefully and pace yourself because there was only 1 P Board & a Torch.
Now 4 weeks later we have to have done:
Power Point for 3 items, Design management file, 2 finished models for You Studio & 1 finished mailbox, among other things like renderings of mailbox etc.
Things get tougher now. It get tougher when you do year 3.
REMEMBER
During CK’s time (lecturer Chee Koon) he made 3 or 4 different designs and all had to be working and finely finished because they need to be sold and work, to raise funds. If they did not work, they get knocked. Always use these examples as a frame of reference for yourself. Only by comparative studies can you guage yourself and better yourself. We cannot improve and be better if we do not use good examples to compare with.
I want to share a story with you:
The rope dart is a Northern Chinese weapon. I first saw it on Jet Li’s movie Shaolin Temple and wanted to learn it but there was no teacher in Singapore who knew how to teach it as we are Southern Boxing type, the population of Singaporeans being from Fukien, Kwangtung etc. I made myself study the moves from magazines and movies. This was the only way I could do it. I went through very single printed literature I could get my hands on. But I persevered and within a very short time I became good enough to demostrate it in front of 300 people at a Moon Cake festival function (pict 1) I also did a demo at the Ching Wu Athletic Organization In Neil Road (the branch of the school started in Shanghai by Hou Yuan Jia, see Fearless by Jet Li). In pict 2 I am flanked by China Champion Chao Chang Chin & Praying Mantis expert Tang Lai Wei, both classmates of Jet Li in The Beijing Wushu School. In pict 3 that’s me doing a stance with the rope dart. This is no empty talk, it’s real.
I learnt the rope dart all by myself in 1 month and did it so well to do all the above. How? Because I believed in myself and worked at it.
YOU CAN DO IT if you worked hard. Sometimes results do not come as quickly but they will show. YOU CAN DO IT.
(suspose to have 3 photos at the end of this email i din put. hahahs. i think is his photos when he was younger.)

READ PEEPS! TORCH CRIT UPDATE!
Hi All,
Pls note the below carefully. We are doing the first project of year 2. We cannot be too lax about this project. Many of the staff are confident to see your work as your soon to maquettes/models look promising. We intend to have a good, fair and balanced assessment for the Torch project. Therefore, please do the following:
1. We will start setting up at 9.30 am and stop set up at 10 am sharp. We will close the door on late comers.
2. Anyone after 10 pm will have 10% of their final grades loped off after 10 mins and we count by the minute.
3. We will use only Rm 3 – 36 (classroom 4) and there are 6 grey panels on each side. Each panel will have 4 person’s A3 board stuck on. Bring pins in case not enough
4. Each table next to the panel will have 4 person’s torch model.
5. Each torch is to be upright supported by a rod through the base. The base jelutong block holding up your model should be about 220 x 220 for stability.
6. No one is to display any other way.
7. Dennis class will take the left wall & KH the right.
8. Your A3 board should have a brief explanation of the design in 5 sentences or less, proposed alternative colour schemes and any other necessary details as u see fit.
9 . You have just 3 mins to tell us what your torch represents. Do not say more coz we will be checking out your torch ppt end of next block.
10. Friday is not for a complete rundown of your work
11. Pls leave the room after you have had your say. Pls do not make noise or try to touch up your model. We get very upset at that.
12 . Come back at 11.55 to rearrange the tables and move your torch to level 6 for safe keeping.
13 . Continue on your You project as Lois is coming in next week for a quick look. We don’t want to disappoint
14 . Pls let me know if any other info is required.
kh
